- Generate business ideas and select the most promising and innovative ones,
- Define your business model and identify your critical business assumptions,
- Gather appropriate and sufficient data to validate or invalidate your critical business assumptions,
- Develop a successful and innovative business plan,
- Implement your business plan and gather additional data for future planning, and

Course Modules 1 – 7
Module 1: Business Idea Generation
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 1, you should be able to:
- Identify problems (or unfulfilled needs) from the business environment that you or someone else faces,
- Describe the current solution (if any) to the identified problem (or unfulfilled need),
- Design your potential solution to the identified problem (or unfulfilled need),
- Rate your solution by using an acceptable criteria
- Prioritize and choice business idea that will have the best outcome.
Module 2: Business Model and Critical Assumptions
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 2, you should be able to:
- Define your business model,
- Describe your business model canvas,
- Identify your most critical business assumptions,
Module 3: Data Gathering
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 3, you should be able to:
- Choose appropriate methods to collect all data required,
- Generate data required to validate or invalidate your critical assumptions,
- Appraise the impacts on your business model and prioritization of business ideas
Module 4: Building a Successful and Innovative Business Plan
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 4, you should be able to:
- Define the business scope,
- Create mission, vision, values and strategic objectives,
- Identify your critical success factors (CSF),
- Identify your target market,
- Carryout market analysis,
- Carryout competitors analysis
- Develop your marketing plan
- Determine your business structure
- Develop your financial plan
- Describe your business model canvas
- Identify and analyse your business and financial risk
Module 5: Implementation and Follow up
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 5, you should be able to:
- Measure success or failure using key performance indicators (KPIs),
- Develop and implement action plan where necessary,
- Provide for monthly budget where necessary,
- Generate new data and insights where required,
- Appraise impacts on your business plan and business model,
- Design a statements of confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
Module 6: Value Estimation and Raising Additional Fund
Learning Objectives:
On completion of Module 6, you should be able to:
- Analyse the business financial strength using an integrated financial statement models,
- Build financial models,
- Carryout performance analysis,
- Estimate the business value using acceptable valuation methods,
- Approach investors, venture capitals and other providers of funds
- Design an investor and start-up term sheet
Module 7: Practical Session
Module 7 is practical and will test your understanding. It deals with the following:
- Examples,
- Illustrations,
- Case Studies, and
- Capstone Project.
Attendance is either by Physical or Virtual
